Terms of Service & Repair Policies

Last Updated: February 23, 2026

By dropping off your device or mailing it in to Tim Can Fix It, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and legally agreed to the following terms and conditions.

1. Repair Risks & Limitation of Liability

Electronic repairs are unpredictable. Your device may be beyond repair or may become permanently damaged during the repair process. Circuit board components deteriorate over time and can fail without warning—especially on liquid-damaged devices where components can short circuit, oxidize, and corrode.

  • Glued-on Screens: Repairs on devices with factory-glued screens (e.g., iPads) involve prying to access internal components. Glass is delicate and can crack or break during this process.
  • Biometrics: Touch ID / Face ID sensors on Apple devices are tied to the motherboard and may fail during repair, rendering them unusable.
  • Older Devices: Integrated GPUs on laptops and AIO computers (especially 2011-era MacBooks/iMacs or known defective HP/Dell models) can fail without warning during standard stress testing or repair.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: If any device should be damaged or lost while in Tim Can Fix It’s custody, our liability will be strictly limited to the cost of repair or the current depreciated, fair-market value of the device in its pre-repair condition. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

2. Estimates & Authorization

While we strive to be as thorough as possible, we do not guarantee that our initial estimate is all-inclusive. It is often impossible to identify every underlying problem until some work is performed.

  • By sending or dropping off your device, you authorize Tim Can Fix It to perform a diagnostic evaluation.
  • We will never perform unauthorized paid work. If our technicians discover additional issues that increase the cost of the repair, we will pause work and contact you. All price changes must be explicitly approved by you before we proceed.

3. The “Repair Attempt” / Bench Fee

We charge a non-refundable Repair Attempt / Bench Fee ranging from $40 to $100 for devices that involve complex motherboard repairs, data recovery, or devices that have had prior repair attempts by other shops or the customer.

This fee covers the extensive labor and micro-soldering required to diagnose a heavily damaged board. If the repair is ultimately unsuccessful, data recovery is impossible, or you decline the final repair quote after diagnostics, you are responsible for this bench fee plus return shipping.

4. 90-Day Limited Shop Warranty

We stand behind our work. Tim Can Fix It offers a 90-Day Warranty on all repairs and parts used to service your device. If the original issue recurs within 90 days, we will perform the service again at no extra labor charge.

Warranty Exclusions (What is NOT covered):

  • Any service using parts not purchased directly by Tim Can Fix It.
  • Console Modding (RGH) software functionality, game backups, or account bans.
  • Software issues, including virus removals or OS installations.
  • New symptoms or hardware failures not directly tied to the original work order.
  • Recurrence of symptoms caused by user error or negligence, including but not limited to: physical drops, liquid damage, power surges, or malware.

Voiding the Warranty: If your device is physically tampered with, opened by you or another shop, or shows signs of new physical damage within the 90-day period, the Tim Can Fix It Warranty is immediately voided.

Note: Our repair services may void your manufacturer’s warranty. By accepting service, you agree we are not liable for voiding your device manufacturer’s warranty.

5. Parts Ordering & Turnaround Times

Many of our repairs are completed in 1-48 hours. However, we offer no guarantees of how long the service will take. If a service requires ordering specialized parts, we will contact you with the cost and estimated arrival time.

If you wish to retain your device while parts are ordered, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the parts cost is required. Tim Can Fix It generally will not use customer-supplied parts, as we cannot verify their functionality or offer a warranty on them.

6. Data Security & Privacy

Tim Can Fix It respects your privacy. We will never browse, copy, or distribute your personal data, photos, or documents. We only access the operating system to the extent necessary to verify hardware functionality.

However, we do not guarantee the security of your data against hardware failure. We strongly encourage you to back up any important files before dropping off your device. Tim Can Fix It assumes no liability for lost data as a result of hardware failure during the repair process.

7. Shipping & Mail-In Liability

If you are mailing your device to us, you are responsible for packaging it securely. Devices shipped in generic, unpadded boxes are prone to damage. If you send your device in a generic box, we will ship it back in a generic box at your own risk.

Insurance: It is your responsibility to request and pay for shipping insurance. Tim Can Fix It assumes absolutely no liability for devices that are lost, stolen, or damaged in transit by UPS, USPS, FedEx, or any other carrier.

8. Payment Terms & Abandoned Devices

We accept all major credit and debit cards. All invoices are due upon receipt of the final repair notification.

  • Storage Fees: Due to limited storage capacity, you are strongly encouraged to pick up your completed device within 7 business days. Devices left beyond 7 days may be subject to a storage fee of $40 per month.
  • Abandoned Property: If a device remains unclaimed after 60 days from the date of the first pickup notification, and no communication has been received, the device will be considered legally abandoned. Written notice will be sent to the email/phone number on file. After this period, Tim Can Fix It reserves the right to recycle the device or sell it to recover service, parts, and storage costs.
